Archives, By-laws, & Governance 

Purpose: Establish MAPHN organizational foundation

Activities: By-laws review

Goal: Review and make recommendations to amend by-laws


Conference Planning

Purpose: Organize MAPHN’s annual Conference

Activities: Set up location, time, plenary speakers, and other administrative details

Goal: Successful execution of conference, attracting more PHNs to become active in MAPHN


Educational & Professional Practice

Purpose: Maintain on-going educational programs that will enhance evidence-based PHN practice.

Activities: MAPHN guide book distribution and regional trainings, annual conference, collaboration with other state, regional, and national organizations.

Goals: Mentor/preceptor internships with academia, CEU programs, guidebook updates and regional training, scholarship criteria, and establishment of speakers bureau.


Elections & Awards

Purpose: Oversee and conduct process to elect officers and Board of Directors

Activities: Review and update nomination policy, distribute and collect ballots

Goal: Ensure orderly election of MAPHN leaders


Financial Planning

Purpose: Monitor and develop financial health of MAPHN

Activities: Establish fiscal policies - collecting, spending, and auditing of MAPHN account.

Goals: Explore current membership for grant writing experience, CEU program funding, and collaboration with state, regional and national organizations.


Membership & Outreach

Purpose: Recruit and retain members.

Activities: Maintain current membership list and contact information, distribute directory to new members, collaborate with Visibility Committee.

Goals: Establish regional chapters and encourage attendance at meetings, develop a database from directory information and maintain a PHN roster of mentors/preceptors


Survey & Informatics

Purpose: Determine the current informatics competency level and informatics and technology needs of Massachusetts Public Health Nurses.  Assist PHN's to identify what they may need to build upon their knowledge, skills, and abilities in the IT area.  Offer educational sessions to enhance PHN's IT competency. Resurvey the MA PHN's.

Goal: *Conduct and online survey of MA PHN on information technology. *Once data analyzed offer IT educational sessions. *Draft the MA PHN workforce survey #3. *Automate the next MAPHN workforce survey (determine frequency, how often to conduct survey).


Visibility

Purpose: Increase the image of the Public Health Nurse and MAPHN

Activities: Fall/Spring MAPHN newsletter, monitor web site, market MAPHN at conferences, seminars and work-shops.

Goals: Investigate marketing resources - camera, display board, table skirt, establish relationship with local, regional, and state media outlets, and web-site improvements.
