SALARY: $28.69-$30.14 per Hour
The City of Easthampton is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Public Health Nurse with the Easthampton Health Department. This position provides professional nursing services responsible for ensuring health and wellness of local community based on Massachusetts regulations and rules related to public health; including investigating, reporting, and analyzing incidences of communicable diseases, performing health screenings and vaccination programs; as well as providing education and developing policies through the analysis of evidence-based principles.
Some functions to the position include investigating, documenting, and tracking communicable disease cases; working in conjunction with school department to identify public health needs within the community; providing health information and consultations to health care providers and residents in effort to decrease spread of disease; coordinating and managing annual flu vaccination clinics; performing community outreach; as well as similar or related work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in nursing and 3 years’ experience in public health setting, school or community nursing or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in MAVEN preferred.
Registered Nurse Certificate
MA Class D driver’s license required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILLS
Knowledge: Working knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices, and methods as applicable to a municipal setting; knowledge of applicable state and local laws, standards, and regulations relating to public health. Knowledge of epidemiology; knowledge of word processing, computer software.
Abilities: Ability to prepare, organize and maintain data, reports and systems; ability to analyze complex situations, problems and data and use sound judgment in drawing conclusions and making decisions. Ability to comprehend and present complex facts and relationships in detail and to summarize, writing clearly, concisely, and professionally. Ability to produce or obtain graphs, charts, photographs, or other evidence or exhibits; and to give presentations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, employees, and supervisors; ability to maintain confidentiality where needed.
Skills: Cultural competency skills; clinical and research skills; written and verbal communication skills; skilled in using appropriate medical supplies and equipment. Skills in prioritizing and organizing independently.
