    CITY OF WORCESTER

    The City of Worcester seeks applicants for the position of Regional Public Health Nurse to provide investigation and case management of all assigned reportable diseases within the three (3) cities and towns of the Central MA Regional Public Health Alliance (CMRPHA). Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Public Health Nurse, the Regional Public Health Nurse, will provide COVID case management and contact tracing as well as specialized case management for tuberculosis patients. The incumbent will work with community partner organizations and agencies to coordinate the care of patients and do so in a culturally competent manner. Additionally, the role includes the investigation of foodborne illness complaints, blood pressure clinics and supporting mass dispensing operations. The role requires the use of the Massachusetts Epidemiological Virtual Network (MAVEN) and the Massachusetts Immunization Information System (MIIS).

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • ·       Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • ·       Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to develop timelines, meet deliverables and be autonomous.
    • ·       Demonstrated computer proficiency and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • ·       Familiarity with the Massachusetts Immunization Information System (MIIS).
    • ·       Familiarity with the Massachusetts Virtual Epidemiological Network (MAVEN).
    • ·       Familiarity with Massachusetts General Laws as related to communicable disease investigation, surveillance and quarantine.
    • ·       Ability to analyze problems, provide alternatives, and identify solutions in support of established goals and projects.
    • ·       Ability to make formal presentations to large groups.
    • ·       Ability to prepare written reports.
    • ·       Ability to be flexible in performing unexpected day-to-day tasks related to public health.
    • ·       Ability to communicate and work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and socioeconomic groups.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
    • Prior professional experience as a nurse.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • ·       Bachelor’s Degree in Skilled Nursing (BSN). 
    • Three (3) years of professional experience as a nurse.

    SALARY: $23.63 - $31.50 hourly, full-time, excellent benefits package.
